Details
“It's the little things. Usually things that need to be dusted,” says Christopher Roy. For him, it’s the details that give a room its character and celebrate expertise and craftsmanship.
A tabletop vignette might pair an antique Chinese Famille Rose jar, museum-wired as a lamp and topped with a flared beige pleated-silk shade, with a Han Dynasty pottery horse and rider. Or, the team might choose a decorative rosette medallion and a hanging tassel ornament to accent the pleated roll arm of an upholstered sofa, echoed by thick, twisted bullion cord fringe along the bottom edge.
Christopher’s own list of favorites is telling: “Foo dogs, proper lampshades, wobbly mirrors (very forgiving), a good English chest of drawers, and lamps from Collier Webb—everybody gets one.”
