A successful interior begins with listening. At Christopher Roy & Co., we take the time to understand how you live, what you love, and what you want your home to become. From architecture and custom millwork to furnishings, antiques, fabrics, and finishes, we thoughtfully consider and carefully coordinate every element. The result is a home with a sense of history and individuality—welcoming, livable, and classically stylish, with every detail reflecting the people who live there.

Our Process

1 - First Conversations

Is your dream home a historic Greek Revival in Charleston or a ground-up Mediterranean-style estate in the wine country? Whatever your vision, we want to understand your aesthetic, how you live, and how you hope your home will evolve over time. “I know how daunting a big project can feel. My goal is to handle the heavy lifting so you can enjoy the creative process,” Christopher says.

2 - Starting with the shell

Before furnishings, the design begins with the architecture, whether it’s a historic restoration or a ground-up build. While the architect often leads the interior architecture, Christopher Roy & Co. is sometimes asked to take on that role, overseeing the design and specification of custom millwork and cabinetry. “We are a lot more than just the pillows,” Christopher says.

3 - Design

Once the home’s architecture is planned, we begin to look at “the pretty stuff,” as Christopher says. Presentation boards make the vision tangible with fabric, trim, rug, paint, wallpaper, and finish samples, along with images of furnishings. Our attention to detail even extends to ironing the fabric samples. This combined process allows us to polish the design, creating interiors that are welcoming, livable, and classically stylish.

4 - The Bottom Line

While your home is about beauty and livability, we understand the importance of being thoughtful stewards of the investment behind it. Our process is grounded in transparency, with clear proposals and a disciplined approach to planning, sourcing, and execution. After years in the business, we have developed a refined process that brings clarity to complex projects, balancing creativity with thoughtful decision-making, careful oversight, and lasting value.

5 - Putting it all Together

Now comes the orchestration: procurement, project management, and installation. Site visits keep construction moving smoothly, while routine check-ins with workshops, artisans, vendors, and receivers ensure every order arrives on time and in perfect condition. Then comes installation day—the pinnacle of countless details and moving parts—as the vision finally comes together to reveal your dream home. Here, you'll celebrate holidays and mark birthdays for years to come.

Sourcing & Craft

For unique interiors, Christopher draws on three decades of design experience and an impressive array of resources. Our studio sources antiques worldwide, from a large French giltwood mirror  in the Régence taste, discovered in Paris, to an 18th-century George III yew and elm Windsor chair purchased in London. We are equally discerning when selecting vendors, working with distinguished European fabric and wallcovering houses such as Venice’s Fortuny and the UK’s Chelsea Textiles. Christopher also designs much of the upholstery, giving each home a distinctive look.

Collaboration

Design is a collaborative experience, and we are fortunate to work alongside award-winning architects such as Skurman Architects, premier builders like Van Acker Associates, and some of the industry’s most accomplished artisans and craftspeople.

Your home should tell your story.

Let’s begin creating it together.
