My career in design was a little bit serendipitous and maybe a bit inevitable.  When I was young, my family lived in Italy for a few years, and I was taken to every museum and old church my parents could find.  What I didn’t realize was that all those experiences and everything I saw were being filed away.  I’ll never forget the first day in my first college art history class when it all clicked into place.  The ideas of scale, proportion, composition and balance were all in there already. Art, architecture, and eventually interior design, all felt natural and instinctive.

Starting in the early 90s in San Francisco, I worked for a series of small firms and then spent a decade as a Design Principal at the celebrated firm Tucker & Marks.  I was fortunate to work and learn alongside Suzanne Tucker on incredible homes throughout the country.

In 2018, I launched Christopher Roy & Co. with the goal of creating an intimate, tailored way of working. We focus on meeting and exceeding our clients' highest expectations for quality, comfort, and value. We enjoy collaborating with world-class architects and local builders, working with the team to make sure all the puzzle pieces fit perfectly with the life you’re going to lead inside those walls.

My team and I focus on creating interiors that are welcoming, livable, and classically stylish. A timeless interior is one that feels as relevant and uniquely yours in ten years as it does the day we finish. And at the very least, a home should be two things: beautiful enough to stop you in your tracks, and comfortable enough that you want to kick your shoes off.

I know how daunting a big project can feel. My goal is to handle the heavy lifting so you can enjoy the creative process. I often remind my clients (and sometimes myself) that "if we're not having fun, we're doing it wrong".

I am a member of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), the Design Leadership Network, and the Preservation Society of Charleston, along with other organizations that support the causes of preservation, history, and classicism. We're a Corporate Sponsor of Drayton Hall's annual Preview Party at The Charleston Show. In 2022, we won the Julia Morgan Award from the ICAA.
